Women's Wax Museum
The Women's Wax Museum is a comprehensive project, which signifies the culmination of many hours of research compilation and the study of technical writing skills. Students study the basic foundation of MLA formatting and proper citation, along with how to correctly paraphrase and quote material from various sources. They are introduced to the process of using notecards and organizing their research using a color coding process, along with a formal outline. We practice writing effective introductions and conclusions, as well as practice transitions in order to aid the flow of information. After the hours spent on the formal research papers, we then spend some time discussing what makes an impressive and informative visual aid. We look at examples and consider what elements should and should not be included in order to convey material effectively. Therefore, the actual "museum" presentation, as you can see, is the product of many hours of studying valuable and transferrable lessons, which makes this a truly worthwhile experience.
